During our trip to Paris, we visited Sacré-Cœur around dusk to, hopefully, capture a beautiful sunset and see the views of Paris from the top of the hill.

While the sunset wasn’t spectacular, we did love seeing the city and hanging out on the hill with everyone else. The only drawback to this area is the number of scam artists trying to earn a dollar. If you’re visiting the area, watch out for them.

Here, the biggest scam is the bracelet scam where groups of people will grab your arm and try to put a bracelet onto it. They are aggressive and won’t let you go and if you’re a sole traveler, you’re more likely to be targeted. They block off the entrances to the area on the hill and stand in menacing and intimidating groups. We watched them for awhile and the number of people who had to pull their arms away and run was astonishing.

I didn’t feel safe here so I’d highly recommend going with a group of other people and go during the day. Although the scammers were there during the day, I felt like you would at least have a better chance of getting away from them or getting help if you needed it.

All that said, it’s an area rich with history. Take a tour of the area with me, will you?
