After leaving Amsterdam, Trina and I hopped on a bus and braced ourselves for the (very) long bus ride to Berlin, Germany. We left late at night so the bus would be traveling through the night and we’d arrive in the morning. The upside to this was that we weren’t spending our daylight hours traveling but the downside was most definitely the uncomfortable bus seats.

Arriving in Berlin, we made the long trek to our hotel at Potsdamer Platz. We had booked in at the Berlin Marriott Hotel (as I mentioned, we were ‘fancy’ backpacking with a budget… ha!) and when we arrived at the hotel, looking tired and weary and in desperate need of a shower, the hotel security didn’t want to let us in. I had to hand them my credit card at the door so they could go and check that we actually had a reservation!

Once inside, we showered up and put our stuff down and headed back out to explore the city. We toured around some of the more known buildings and of course, stood on the dividing line where the Berlin Wall used to stand.

While Berlin wasn’t my favourite city to travel to, simply because I felt it was a bit ‘colder’ than other cities, I definitely enjoyed the history that the city is steeped in and will definitely return someday.
