Last night, Crystal and I attended the Brookstreet’s Lumière Gala in support of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. This year’s theme was, “A Splash of Red” and between the decor and the dresses, it was a perfect, merlot-inspired night. If you haven’t been to the Lumière Gala, it’s an absolute must-attend event in the city. The cause is a fantastic one but equal to that, the event itself is unlike others in the city.

To date Lumière has distributed over $462,000 to local charities and another $244,000 towards Cancer Research.
The event featured ten food stations, paired with exceptional wines, that featured a delicious selection of cancer-busting foods. I sampled a few of the dishes and quite honestly, they were all so good that it is hard to choose one as my favourite. The chosen wines also paired wonderfully with the food selections. I was in foodie heaven and then some. As we sampled food, there was live jazz filling the room and the band was incredible.

As always, Stuntman Stu (Majic 100) did a great job on the live auction and sold off some fabulous prizes. The highlight of the evening though, besides the food, was the fireworks show. Set to music, Brookstreet puts on a fantastic fireworks display right over the Marshes Golf Course that guests always enjoy. On the way to the fireworks display, I grabbed my most favourite dish of the night — dessert. This year it was a chilled dark chocolate torte and it was by far one of the best dishes I have had in awhile. So, so delicious (I may have had two… don’t tell anyone)!

If you have the chance to check out the gala in the future, please do! With approximately 500 guests in attendance, it is a fantastic evening out with great networking possibilities, wonderful food and great decor. All in all, a fabulous addition to your social calendar for the fall.
Here are some of the photos taken from the evening. Enjoy!
