To say that my daughter was excited was a complete understatement. As we boarded the plane, Willow couldn’t help but flutter her arms and attempt to fly out of her seat (for those that know her well, the nickname ‘Little Bird’ will make sense.)
We were headed to Florida to spend the week at the Animal Kingdom Lodge resort in Disney World. We had booked a room that overlooked the safari and the idea of being surrounded by animals had us all a little excited. I had been to Disney World as a teenager but there is something different and magical about seeing it through the eyes of a three year-old.
Our travel to Orlando was, thankfully, smooth and uneventful and when we arrived at Disney, we got checked in with ease. Our room was small but quaint and was themed in the African Safari motif. Willow loved being able to look out our window and see animals roaming the property.
After getting our stuff unpacked into the room, we headed to Downtown Disney, which I believe is now called Disney Springs, where we took in some of the sights, ate at the Rainforest Cafe and did a bit of shopping. After a day of fun, Willow crashed pretty hard and admittedly, so did we.
