Tonight was so much fun. Willow and I ventured down to The Studio Cafe in Hintonburg for a workshop hosted by the creative, talented and mega-amazing Kate Durie. The workshop was called The Gratitude Kit and it featured a beautiful introduction to gratitude by Kate herself followed by play, play and more play.

Kate walked us through the activities and explained that we’d be making beautiful handmade cards (to give to others as a way to say thank you and express gratitude in an outward fashion), covering gratitude journals in our own unique designs, making a joy jar, painting gratitude rocks and more. It was a perfect way to spend a few hours.

I decided, with Kate’s courageous prompting, to bring Willow with me to experience the workshop and get messy. She loves to do arts and crafts at home so I figured that she’d also love to do them in this environment. Kate and I were right — she loved every minute of it. At the very beginning of the workshop, Kate invited everyone to help themselves to lollipops and… can you guess who was the first to get one?

As Kate did her intro presentation, my little bug got restless legs so we wandered into the back of the studio space and found a chalkboard wall. Willow was in love.

However, once the play piece started, Willow was in heaven. We loaded up a palette with paint and she painted, glued and created to her heart’s content.

We had SUCH a fantastic time at the workshop and I want to say a HUGE thank you to Kate and the other people at the workshop for being so welcoming and gracious with Willow. She enjoyed it so much!
