For most people, backpacking across Europe usually involves hostel stays and late nights wondering if the place you chose to sleep is safe. It’s part of the adventure and keeps the adrenaline spiked nice and high. For my sister and I, we did a different sort of backpacking… We had backpacks but we also had a budget so we stayed in 4- and 5-star hotel properties across Europe.
Here’s part of our secret though: we used Priceline to “Name Your Own Price” and we got these hotel stays at, sometimes, the same cost as a hostel. Doing so meant that we lucked out on our accommodations and could live like Queens across Europe.
In Amsterdam, we chose the Movenpick (or should I say, Priceline chose the Movenpick for us) and we were so pleasantly surprised. It’s not right in Amsterdam but the hotel, if you get a room on the city-side, has incredible views of Amsterdam and the walk into the city is not bad – 10-15 minutes at most.
We had a wonderful, two night stay here and we made good use of the room service, the Internet lounge downstairs and soaked up the city views. We both had such a great time and we highly recommend it as a hotel choice on your next trip to Amsterdam.
